Greenhouse Treatment Center’s alcohol addiction rehab customizes treatment plans for each patient.

Our inpatient rehab facility near Dallas offers the following types of addiction treatment:

Greenhouse also offers specialized treatment programs during inpatient care for people who may face specific challenges when recovering from alcohol addiction. Our specialized programs include the:

In addition to our residential/inpatient offerings, we also have multiple levels of outpatient treatment options, which include the following:

It is common for patients to move through multiple levels of care as their treatment needs change over time. For example, many patients who are addicted to alcohol need to begin rehab with medical detox to manage their withdrawal symptoms safely before continuing on to another form of treatment.1

For patients not in residential treatment who need a sober housing environment to support their recovery from alcohol addiction, we also offer a sober living community called Resolutions Arlington, just a 10 minute drive away from our Grand Prairie rehab facility.

What Are the Goals of Alcohol Rehab at Greenhouse?

Each patient will have treatment goals specific to their situation. Overall, the primary goal of alcohol rehab at Greenhouse Treatment Center is to provide each patient with the skills they need to achieve long-term recovery from alcohol use disorder.

At Greenhouse, general goals for our patients in alcohol addiction rehab include the following:

  • Safely completing medical detox.
  • Identifying triggering situations and stimuli.
  • Learning coping skills.
  • Building a strong support system.
  • Learning to identify healthy people, places, and things.
  • Creating an aftercare plan.

We also prioritize the whole health of our patients, and that’s why we treat not only substance addiction but also co-occurring disorders. Mental health disorders that commonly co-occur with substance use disorders include:2

Research shows integrated treatment programs that address both disorders at the same time is more effective than those that address the disorders separately.3

Who Should Consider Attending Alcohol Rehab?

Medical and clinical professionals use specific diagnostic criteria to determine if a person has an alcohol use disorder, or AUD. While only a professional can make a diagnosis of AUD, knowing the signs can help you determine if you or a loved one needs help. View the full list of AUD criteria.4

Generally, the main characteristic of an AUD is an inability to control one’s drinking, to cut back or stop despite it causing significant problems in one’s life.4,5

If you believe that you or your loved one may be exhibiting uncontrolled and problematic drinking behavior, please reach out to a treatment professional or doctor for an assessment.

How Alcohol Treatment Can Increase Your Chances of Lasting Recovery

During alcohol addiction rehab at Greenhouse, patients learn how to manage their addiction and lead fulfilling lives in recovery.

Rehab for alcohol not only provides people with a safe and encouraging place to recover from their physical dependence on alcohol but also teaches valuable skills to help them:6

  • Handle stressful situations.
  • Identify and manage cues and triggers.
  • Stay motivated to recover.
  • Improve family and other interpersonal relationships and develop healthy support networks to sustain recovery.

Unfortunately, because of the chronic nature of addiction, some patients experience relapse (returning to drugs or alcohol after they have attempted to stop).

Relapse does not mean treatment has failed, but rather it is an indication that the person needs to modify treatment, resume treatment, or try another type of treatment.6 Many people experience relapse and go on to lead fulfilling lives in recovery.

Greenhouse understands that patients can sometimes relapse after they have completed a program and offers relapse prevention support while the patient is still in the program and after they have finished.

We also offer a 90-day brand promise, which provides an additional 30 days of treatment at Greenhouse or a sister facility for patients who have completed 90 days in our program and experience a relapse.

Lastly, Greenhouse’s vast alumni network offers support and weekly meetings for patients to stay connected to sober peers.

What Medications Are Used During Alcohol Detox?

Medication can be an effective tool in helping people with AUD, both during detox and after.7 However, not all patients will require the use of medications. Our medical staff perform thorough assessments of all patients to guide the use of medications as appropriate. If a patient’s assessment does call for the use of medication during detox, a benzodiazepine may be used to help treat alcohol withdrawal symptoms and prevent serious medical complications such as seizures.

“Comfort medications” may also be used at Greenhouse to maintain patient comfort. These may include:

  • Anti-nausea medications.
  • Anti-anxiety medications.
  • Pain relievers.

If medication is deemed appropriate, the clinical team monitors patients each time medication is administered.

How Long Do I Stay in Alcohol Detox at Greenhouse Treatment Center?

The length of time each patient stays in alcohol detox at Greenhouse varies. Typically, the average stay in detox is 5-10 days; however, detox may last longer depending on the severity of a patient’s alcohol withdrawal and their individual needs. Many patients transfer to residential treatment after they finish medical detox, which lengthens their stay at the facility.

Continuing rehab for alcohol use disorder after completing detox can help patients address the underlying thoughts and behaviors that drive compulsive drinking.

At Greenhouse, we understand that each patient recovers at their own pace. Whether you need short-term rehab, month-long treatment, or long-term rehab, we customize the length of treatment to help you achieve long-term recovery.

What Types of Therapy are Used in Alcohol Treatment at Greenhouse?

The inpatient and outpatient treatment programs at Greenhouse employ several evidence-based therapies in both group and individual settings. Therapy types include:

Greenhouse also incorporates holistic therapies to encourage recovery on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level. Holistic therapies that accompany our core therapies at Greenhouse include:

  • Yoga and meditation.
  • Spiritual reflection.
  • Tai chi and Pilates.
  • Music and art therapy.

Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery meetings are also hosted at Greenhouse for patients who would like to participate in peer-led support groups.

How Often Do I See a Therapist or Doctor in Alcohol Rehab?

While in medical detox, patients see a doctor daily and typically have their first individual therapy session with a detox therapist within the first 3-5 days. As patients are able to, they also meet with a detox therapist every day in process group sessions.

Once a patient transitions to a residential program, they will see a doctor 1-2 times a week and continue to meet with a therapist once a week for individual therapy sessions and daily for process groups.
